Sorry for butting in, but there were no meteorite falls or finds in Catawba Co.,
between 1874 and 1929. In fact, most of the N.Carolina meteorites have been
found as single specimens, so if the vendor was selling whole "meteorites" then
it would seem rather suspicious.
