Re: My first trip to Tucson
I realise that meteorites are the high point of the trip, but for all those who
will be traveling long distances, there ARE other attractions that you might
want to check out:
If you are an aviation buff, the Pima Air museum is a must.
Also, the Titan Missle Museum in Green Valley is probably the neatest museum
I've been to (I've never been to the Smithsonian). You get to go down into an
actual Titan Missle Silo and scope out the control room as well as the inside
of the silo (with Missle) itself. Way Cool.
Nogales can be a hassle, but if you have time on your hands its an easy day
trip into Mexico.
Cheap booze and prescription medications are big.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but while I've driven by Kitt Peak maybe 300 times
(50 miles south of Tucson), I've never been there. Sigh.
The Worlds Largest Free Standing Mud Hut (ok, not really). Actually it's the
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument near Coolidge (about 50 miles West of
Tucson) is interesting from an anthropological point of view.
I'm going to try to get to Tucson sometime between now and the 15th. Hope
everybody enjoys the show.
