V.E. Barnes (1969) Progress of Tektite Studies in China, EOS Trans.Am.
Geophys.Un. 50, 704-708.

A 10.8-kg Layered (Muong-Nong-Type) Tektite from Wenchang, Hainan,
China, D.S.Futrell, 6222 Haviland Ave., Whittier, Calif. 90601, USA, and
J.T. Wasson, Inst.Geophys.Planet.Phys.,Univ. Calif. 90024-1567, USA: A
10.79-kg layered tektite from Hainan (the largest of numerous specimens
totalling over 600 kg) is the largest tektite from China and the 5th

described by Yuan (1981) greatly extends the area of the Australasian
field within which layered tektites having masses > 1 kg have been found
(Meteoritics 28, 1993, 136-137).

H. Povenmire (1996) Tibetan tektites - Authentic? (abs. Meteoritics 31,
1996, A111).
