Re: Allende & Phobos

In regards to the Allende/phobos connection, I have finally found a source that
I read about and this connection. I will share it with the group. Perhaps we
can follow up on it and then offer the most reasonable explanation or discount
it, if it is without merit.

In the December 1993 issue of Astronomy Magazine, there is an article of
several pages long written by Damond Benningfield who writes for the radio
program "StarDate" The title of the article is "The Odd Little Moons Of Mars".
In this article on page 51 is a color photo of a slice of Allende with a
caption that states "The moons gray color leads astronomers to believe they may
be captured asteroids, made of the same material as this carbonaceous chondrite
meteorite that fell near Allende, Mexico in 1969"

Although this is not by any means proof, the fact remains that information is
out there that speculates on this connection. I am sure I have read other
information to this regards also but at this time can't find the information. I
will continue to hunt and will share it if I find it.

At a recent convention I attended called NIAG (Northern Indiana Astronomical
Group) Frederick Pilcher, Chairman of Physics Department of Illinois College
since 1962, spoke on minor planets. In his keynote speech he noted the
Vesta/eucrite connection and also mentioned the spectral connection with
certain carbonaceous chondrites and Phobos. He suggested a remote connection
with Allende at that talk.
