Meteorite List Archives for [meteorite-list] more on fake lunar rocks on etsyI called Etsy and informed them about "Newmoonmeteorites" and his fake Lunar rocks. They said they "would investigate his shop listings". Don't know how far that will go as far as removing them. I also saw that there were 3 five star reviews (!) and the Etsy system allowed me to write them direct. I gave them the bad news, a link to Randy Korotev's site, and his quote "No lunar meteorite has yet to be found in the temperate environment of North America or Europe; all were found in deserts of drier continents. You have got a better chance of winning big in the lottery than finding a lunar meteorite." I suggested maybe the could have Etsy get them a refund. That might stir the nest a little as well. On Etsy, a seller "Newmoonmeteorites" is offering various sizes of "Lunar granite, from a large strewn field recently discovered in New Hampshire. Chemical analysis of 3 match chemical composition of Lunar basalts, 1 matches Lunar granite, (chemical analysis posted on youtube slideshow, as well as thin sections of fusion crust on 6 small anorthosite and one large basalt)." Here is a link to one of the listings: https://www.etsy.com/.../meteorite-18-gram-lunar... Wow. And some poor suckers are buying his crap. I am going to contact Etsy, don't know if they will do anything about it... Here is a link to the seller's store. It's full of river rocks and what looks like a handful of misrepresented ordinary chondrites - https://www.etsy.com/ie/shop/NEWMOONMETEORITES?ref=l2-about-shopname Thanks for pointing this out Daniel. Etsy members on this list should report these listings. Although, if Etsy is anything like eBay, they won't care. They're probably happy to make the fees on the sales. Speaking of his sales, his Etsy page indicates that 8 of these "Lunars" have been sold. It is sad that perhaps up to 8 people have been fooled. -----Original Message----- From: Meteorite-list <meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com> On Behalf Of Galactic Stone & Ironworks via Meteorite-list Sent: Monday, May 24, 2021 1:19 PM To: info at moonmarsrocks.com Cc: Meteorite List <meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com> Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Fake lunars Link was broken, but maybe it was removed.
