Dinosaurs and Meteorites: A Flash From the Past The Sherman Museum, located in downtown Sherman, TX, is excited to premier an exciting new museum exhibit, ?Dinosaurs and Meteorites: A Flash From the Past? this summer. 65million years ago, a major galactic event triggered a massive reaction on earth. This event led to the demise of the dinosaurs. Today we search for the clues to what happened to end their time on the planet. What are meteorites? How do we find them? How are dinosaurs found? What happened to cause theirextinction? What about T.rex? Did it survive? Geoffrey Notkin, CEO Aerolite Meteorites and President of the National Space Society, and John Bennitt, owner Dinosaur Brokers and PaleoBOND, will take you on an adventure of how space and time touched the earth and changed the future of the dinosaurs forever on Monday, May 20 at 2 PM in the Sherman Museum lecture hall. The exhibit hall will be open to kick off this summer exhibit, which runs through August 17, 2019. Notkin starred in three season of the multi award-winning television adventure series Meteorite Men for Discovery networks and two seasons of STEM Journals, for which he received two Emmy Awards. He has also appeared in show for National Geographic, History Channel, Travel Channel, TLC, OBS,A&E, NASA and the BBC. An established author, Notkin will be available to sign his book Meteorite Hunting: How to Find Treasure From Space which will be available for purchase following the presentation.Notkin is a well-known authority on meteorites and has worked with many of the world's leading institutions. ?I had an epiphany at the London Geological Museum Hall of Meteorites when I realized that the study of meteorites is the perfect combination of geology and astronomy. I have been hooked ever since,?he stated. Bennitt started his paleontology career early working with Holsteins of the Quaternary period. This was just a precursor to the last fifteen years of hunting, digging, preparing, molding, casting and mounting cows and other specimens from the Mesozoic and Cenozoic. ?Since starting my own business, I?ve taught myself to prep fossils and do restoration work as a result of taking over PaleoBOND, a well known company in the paleo prep world,?Bennitt said. Seating is limited for the May 20th lecture and it is recommended that you call for reservations 903-893-7623. Member tickets for this event are FREE and general public admission is $15.00.
