Hello All,

The story of this Michigan meteorite does fit the generic narrative of a
farm-raised meteorite. A noisy arrival. Warm to the touch. Life as a
doorstop. All perfectly reasonable, and in fact, expected.

The degree of external weathering is possible depending on the iron
chemical composition and the storage environment. I'll admit, I wondered
about it too, but there are plenty of rusty blobs of Sikhote-Alin around
that fell perhaps 10 or more years after this alleged event.

Either way, it looks like this is a real iron meteorite. And Occam and I
would believe the initial story over a transplanted previously known iron.
The Roundup, Montana has a similar story but without the fall excitement.

Best,

Martin
