Meteorwrongs should have a place in meteorite education because they help illustrate the differences and similarities between meteorites and terrestrial rocks. Ideally, every outreach program should have a large "pass around" meteorite for the kids to handle and examine up close. But, a big meteorite can be very expensive and outreach can involve some risks of theft, damage, or just oxidation/degradation from repeated handling. Because of these risks, sometimes a big meteorwrong can be the answer - it gives most of the benefits of a real meteorite, but if it gets lost, stolen, or broken, it's not a big loss. With that said, I have some very nice meteorwrongs that are very convincing. I currently have four types of meteorwrongs available - iron silicate wrongs (to simulate iron meteorites, and some even have faux-regmaglypts), stony chondrite wrongs, anorthosite lunar analogs, and a single piece of "faux desert glass" which is actually copal (but difficult to distinguish in hand from LDG). Members of this List (you!) get 20% off all prices - use coupon code "metlist" at checkout to get the discount. If the coupon code doesn't work, let me know via email. Sometimes the checkout acts a little goofy and it won't accept the coupon code on the first try. It's also very picky, so make sure you enter the code in all lowercase letters. Also - any buyer who is using the specimens for educational or outreach use will get additional discounts and freebies. Just email me after checkout and let me know the details of your outreach program (or classroom use), and I'll work with you on a great deal.
