(S2, W2), with a total known weight of 501 g. NWA 7323 was discovered in 2012 in the Sahara desert of NW-Africa. It is a rare type, the Meteoritical Bulletin lists only 15 different LL3.3 meteorites. NWA 7323 shows the typical matrix of a chondite of very low petrological grade, with densely packed chondrules. All slices were grinded on both sides to remove some saw marks. Polishing isn?t recommended with this meteorite because it loses a lot of contrast. http://www.sr-meteorites.de/specials/nwa7323/special-nwa7323.html Below is the classification report for NWA 7323: " Fairly large, well-formed chondrules and relatively low content of altered metal. Olivine (Fa2.3-48.4), Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine = 0.06-0.25 wt.%, mean 0.13 wt.%, s.d. 0.07 wt.%, N = 7), orthopyroxene (Fs2.3-6.7Wo0.4-0.3), pigeonite (Fs12.1Wo6.7), sodic plagioclase, chromite, altered kamacite and troilite." Thank you for your interest! Best wishes, Stefan Ralew SR-Meteorites, Berlin / Germany www.sr-meteorites.de www.moonrocks.de Received on Thu 18 Oct 2012 04:03:57 PM PDT |
