It looks like lunar meteorites are still king averaging more per gram than any other type.? The large Libyan lunar failed to sell even though it was reasonably priced. The large Tissint Martian piece failed to garner a single bid.?? I am surprised the sculptural irons didn't fair well either. The 5.147gram NWA 5000 piece offered by somebody other than myself sold for $1,700.00/gram, slightly above the appraisal average given at the official NWA website: You still have one day to make a low offer on the NWA 5000 main mass before it is escalated to the next selling sequence plateau: http://themeteoritesite.com/ Kind Regards, Adam ? ________________________________ From: Mendy Ouzillou <ouzillou at yahoo.com> To: 'Meteorite List' <meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com> Sent: Sunday, October 14, 2012 2:45 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Heritage auction List, You should take a look at the prices being realized at the Heritage auction - Wow!? Not many deals to be had and some very high bidding going on. As a general explanation as to likely why some of these have high bids: - The $312k moon pieces seem to have 1 bid but the reserve may not have been met yet. Still, at $175 per gram it may be a good deal if you have the money. - The mask also has 1 bid, probably due to good advertising, although the reserve also is not met. - The Seymchan sphere has over 20 bids!!! People seem to like spheres. - The NWA 725 doesn't have any bids, it's just the asking starting price. -Yinan On Sun, Oct 14, 2012 at 12:40 PM, Mendy Ouzillou <ouzillou at yahoo.com> wrote: > Lot Number:49049 Current Bid:$312,500 > FROM THE FAR SIDE OF THE MOON, THE FOURTH LARGEST PIECE OF THE MOON: > DAR AL GANI (DaG) 1058 End Piece A: 116 x 231 x 35mm (4.5 x 9 x 1.4 > inches) and 1096.47 grams (2.42 > pounds) > End Piece B: 116 x 238 x 23mm (4.5 x 9.33 x 1 inches) and 683.19 grams > (1.50 > pounds) > > Lot Number:49079 Current Bid:$130,000 > GIBEON MASK - AN INCOMPARABLE IRON METEORITE > 9.37 kilograms > > Lot Number:49023 Current Bid:$8,000 > SEYMCHAN SPHERE - PALLASITIC METEORITE FASHIONED INTO PERFECT SPHERE > 548.4 grams > > Lot Number:4905 Current Bid:$9,500 > NWA 725 METEORITE - LARGE COMPLETE SLICE OF VALUABLE WINONAITE > 195.28 grams > > -----Original Message----- > From: Yinan Wang [mailto:veomega at gmail.com] > Sent: Sunday, October 14, 2012 9:26 AM > To: Mendy Ouzillou > Cc: Meteorite List > Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Heritage auction > > Yup, should be fun to watch, they stream it live online when it starts. > Which bids are surprising? > > Also fun to watch (slightly off topic): > The Red Bull Stratos skydive happening right now and streaming live! > Watch as they attempt a 23 mile sky dive! > http://www.redbullstratos.com/live/ > > -Yinan > > > On Sun, Oct 14, 2012 at 12:19 PM, Mendy Ouzillou <ouzillou at yahoo.com> wrote: >> Anyone following the auction? >> >> The live bidding does not start until 2:30 pm Central Time today, but >> some of the proxy/internet bids so far are REALLY surprising! >> >> Mendy >> >> >> >> ______________________________________________ >> >> Visit the Archives at >> http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html >> Meteorite-list mailing list >> Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com >> http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > ______________________________________________ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list Received on Sun 14 Oct 2012 06:08:20 PM PDT |
