[meteorite-list] LONG Posts that give us Arthritis to Scroll though

That is why I mentioned scrolling through all of them and just in general the time and energy and I threw battery life in there just for the heck of it. I'm not that worried about it, but I was thinking of others that have phones that the battery lasts a couple of hours. Thanks! -----Original Message----- From: MexicoDoug Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2012 1:32 PM To: searchingforfun at sbcglobal.net ; Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] LONG Posts that give us Arthritis to Scroll though Brian wrote: "How about just a "Fresh email Post" without all the long trailing info of many old posts. ... short on time, battery life and Increasingly Bad Vision" Hi Brian, I think you have a good point and I've added to the carpal woes. It is just convenient as mentioned not to have to open other screens and toggle when trying to understand some of the more intense posts, or to conveniently catch up on those ignored until the spirt move you to catch up. Still, the old practice of quoting what's relevant is sometimes lost and far more efficient for everyone I think, when possible, so at least I'll try to keep that in mind when participating in some of the whopper threads - also because the archives are probably getting near critical mass and may fragment into an alphabet soup nova. I don't understand the comment about the scrolling and batteries, though. At least on my phone, I can skip or delete messages once I am satisfied I've read as far as I want, without having to go to the end, I never get to the accumulated meteorite-list tags at the bottom and it's never a big deal (though I imagine if you get the daily compendium format it would be a major problem). Other consciencious gestures could include always putting new content at the top of the thread. One of my favorite people always puts their comments at the end and that usually throws me for a loop just as driving on the opposite sice of the road from convention. The other is for people that don't reference at all what they are talking about and there are orphan comments that leave one scratching their head .... and finally, another meteorite institution from San Diego who I greatly respect always starts his new threads out with a Re: Subject when he is replying to no previous Subject, so it cues me to think I'm entering it in mid thread ... kind of the concept some spammers use by sending you a thread "Re: invoice" making you think you are already involved in an email exchange with them if you have dozens to go through...and are short on time to think.
