If the chondrite is small, then don't cut it with the oil saw. Use a small lapidary trim saw and use distilled water as a coolant. That will minimize contamination of the specimens. If the stone is big, then I have no useful first-hand experience because I don't cut the big stuff. :) Best regards, MikeG ************************************************* Galactic Stone & Ironworks - Meteorites & Amber (Michael Gilmer) Website - http://www.galactic-stone.com Facebook - http://tinyurl.com/42h79my News Feed - http://www.galactic-stone.com/rss/126516 Twitter - http://twitter.com/galacticstone *************************************************** On 2/9/12, Erik Fisler <phxerik at yahoo.com> wrote: > Is it okay to cut chondrites with water soluble oil in an oil saw or will > that screw with the classification? > > > [Erik] > Sent from my iPod > ______________________________________________ > > Visit the Archives at > http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > -- ************************************************* Galactic Stone & Ironworks - Meteorites & Amber (Michael Gilmer) Website - http://www.galactic-stone.com Facebook - http://tinyurl.com/42h79my News Feed - http://www.galactic-stone.com/rss/126516 Twitter - http://twitter.com/galacticstone ***************************************************Received on Thu 09 Feb 2012 03:40:22 PM PST |
