(I'm having trouble wioth email from the list as they are coming out of order a lot, and maybe my ISP is delivering less quickly). Just saw the interior of the second picture. I'm not as confident as you but certainly hope you are right as it would be very exciting. But for me the interior of this second picture has the metal looking just too white with little or no oxidation right to the edges. No clue what non-meteoritic material would produce that - Whatever it is it has a story I'm sure just waiting to be discovered. Fingers crossed you're right and best of luck! Kindest wishes Doug -----Original Message----- From: Jim Wooddell <nf114ec at npgcable.com> To: MexicoDoug <mexicodoug at aim.com> Sent: Sun, Nov 27, 2011 1:18 pm Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Another Sticks Like an Iron Hi Doug! It's a meteorite....no doubt.......but I am torn between H-Metal and Meso. I wished I had unlimited funding for lab tests!!! It was found outside of any de-facto strewn field or DCA. But I'm going to go with some railroad slag of some sort. Too hard to see in the picture whether there are any bubbles, but still the smoothed side is highly suspicious for a piece of slag that was crushed, maybe with other crap added to it. Is that anything close? Sticks like an iron to a magnet, has a density of about 4.6g/cc and has a lot of metal in the matrix. What is it???...just for fun. https://k7wfr.us/cold/DSCN0529.JPG Jim Jim Wooddell https://k7wfr.us ______________________________________________ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list Received on Sun 27 Nov 2011 02:11:56 PM PST |
