Steve asks me to share it with the meteorite world, and as I presented a response, just to insure none of my answer arrives in the inbox of anyone else who unknown to me is on this message distribution I am posting Steve's request and my response. I have absolutely no time to get involved with authenticity disputes so I wash my hands of this and consider myself alien to this subject now that I have duly passed the information as was very courteously requested. Steve: it looked like you took a lot of effort to compose your message to me and considering its civil tone and even a bit of unnecessary flattery; I think everyone I know who would be concerned can read it here. As I've done with many subjects in the past, though when I say I'm done talking about them, I stick to my word. There is just too much to do and hopefully the concerned channels can address this dispute. I just received a private email and now an answer from Tim Stout. I'm a little bit confused how that happened so my spidey senses are tingling as I write this answer. I already am a hero to my family and have not the energy to become embroiled in meteorite authenticity disputes when I have my own rockpile to get classified and MetSoc recognized classification scientists are always in short supply when you need them. There are many more interesting things for me to pursue in life at the moment. So, I will respectfully decline and hope you can solve your differences with these dealers without my input as you say images can be misleading as much as helpful depending on whose hands they are being passed. Additionally my areas of meteorite interest are least of all in Lunar meteorites or I would be quicker to step forward; there are enough rocks on earth that are similar enough to them with minor differences that they hold little interest for me except historical when related to the Apollo and Luna missions. My interest is in more primitive mineral species. But with all due respect regarding your unpublished specimens, I wish you the best of luck. Even if some or all are not meteorites, hunting for minerals in beautiful Colorado country will keep you in good health, and I say this without prejudice. Kindest wishes Doug -----Original Message----- From: Tim Stout <tim_97124 at yahoo.com> To: Steve Curry <cwheileg at gmail.com>; MexicoDoug <mexicodoug at aim.com> Sent: Sat, Nov 5, 2011 8:04 pm Subject: Re: Colorado Lunar Feldspathic Breccia Eoooooo I like wagers... But who shall be the quailified 3rd party who will judge this contest? And where?would you like to?set up the escrow account? I have $$$ and like to bet, so tell me more!!! ? T.S. From: Steve Curry <cwheileg at gmail.com> To: MexicoDoug <mexicodoug at aim.com> Sent: Saturday, November 5, 2011 1:46 PM Subject: Colorado Lunar Feldspathic Breccia Hi, Doug; ?Given the fact, that you are one of the very few sane, honest, and straight-shooting fellows in the IMCA, I'm thinking you may be the one to initiate a correction of a serious wrong. ?I'm thinking, too, that it's time to end the drama, and the mystery, as to whether Lunar meteorites have, actually, been recovered in North America! ?This should, at the very least, prompt some very serious & sincere scientific inquiries. ?This is providing, of course, our "esteemed scientists" decide to do the right thing for the country they serve! ?? ? I realize, as well, that there are no scientists, collectors, or dealers, who will admit to using photographic means to recognize meteorites and their extraterrestrial signatures, and compositions. ?Yet, all scientists, dealers, and collectors, use thin section imagery, to authenticate, classify, and recognize meteorites. ?{Korotev, for example, uses just photography, all the time, to dismiss genuine meteorites as "meteorwrongs!"} ?As silly as is sounds, thin section imagery "IS PHOTOGRAPHY!" ?As in the case of genuine science, logic, and rational thinking, this issue of "photography" won't make any sense to most of the IMCA membership. ?These people will only believe what the "scientists" tell them to think, making the old adage of, "It's not WHAT you know, but Who!" truer than ever! ?{So, what's wrong with this PICTURE?!!!} ? ?? ? This is an opportunity for you to set things right, and become a hero! ?Be sure to forward this message & images all of your mates, and, particularly, to Adam Hupe, and to Blaine Reed, who claims to have a "degree in geology." ? ?? ? On this subject, I'm finding that it's better not to have a "degree in geology!" ?Most universities, around the country, do not teach meteoritics, as part of their Geology programs! ?This is despite the fact, that meteorites brought life to the planet, asteroids & supernova debris brought our precious metals, and comets brought our water!! ?None of these universal entities have anything to do with planetary geology!!!......so say the academic professionals!? ?? ? The following links will be of great help to you! ?When you are ready for more specimen images and links, just let me know. ?I can match thin sections, petrologies, mineralogies, and elemental chemistries, to nearly all the Apollo Lunars, NWA's, Antarctica, and Australian lunars! ?Any wagers? http://www.saharamoon.com/ http://www.meteoritecollector.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=1313 Cheers!
