The subject of meteoritic dust has been extensively studied since the
1950's. Nininger first promoted the volumes of dust generated by falls and
conducted dust collecting experiments. Search google for "collection of
meteoritic dust" and you will find papers and abstracts with long lists of
references for your reading pleasure. Of course you will find other less
technical junk as well.

Hi John and list,

I also read a post on here a year ago, where someone said (I think) on
average
that 2 meteorites land per-square mile
every 1000 years??? Is this figure also true. It seems high to me.
