Dear List,
I started a small investigation about this quite recent meteorite:

http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php?code=34560

Its status is "undocumented". What dokuments/set of information makes a meteorite "official" in databases?

During the past 16 years it received very little attention and publicity even in the local scientific media.
The story of the fall raises a lot of questions (melting things after hours, undocumented crater, specialists forgot to take photos, etc). Please read:
http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meetings/LPSC98/pdf/1082.pdf

Another point is the strong weathering on the pictures:
http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaposf%C3%BCred_vasmeteorit

Based on my very little knowledge it does seem to be an iron
meteorite but does NOT seem to be a fresh fall.

I became very interested in the true story of this fall, but before any final conclusion I decided to ask this community. What is your opinion?

Best Regards,
Antal
