Of Meteorites and Mammoths? ... a title exuding trail pheromones! "Just goes to show, you never know what you will find in the desert." ...Sonny (Feb 2007) This find sure beats the hoisted, crucified cows I remember you telling us about! It reminds me of the time my girlfriend and I walked right over the backbone of a ridge. Turned out to be more of a backbone than we expected: a Cretaceous Mosasaur's http://www.oceansofkansas.com/Mosasaurs/1mosasa.jpg What a nice feeling you must have had Sonny - and a better site to camp out at than the last one ;-) Meteorite hunting is so broadening ... Kindest wishes, Doug -----Original Message----- From: wahlperry at aol.com To: meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com Sent: Sun, Jul 24, 2011 7:28 pm Subject: [meteorite-list] From Meteorites to Mammoths Hi List,? ? I wanted to share some exciting news about a phone call I recently received.? ? ?While I was out in the field looking for meteorites I came across some fossilized bones that were eroding out of the desert ground. I took a few pictures and showed them to the agency responsible for that area. They called me the other day to let me know that what I had found was a Mammoth! I don't believe any Mammoth's have been found at this location before. I hope to post some pictures of this when I get home.? ? Sonny? ______________________________________________?
