I always wondered why Adam Hupe' shipped tiny, sometimes almost weightless, pieces of meteorite in a relatively huge 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 6" box.

Was this intentional, Adam, and has it proven beneficial, in your experience?

Yes, I intentionally use larger boxes for many reasons. Padded envelopes do not provide enough physical protection. I found that most buyers purchase more than one specimen so the costs of using the more expensive method of shipping becomes negligible once items are combined.? Most people consider the costs of shipping before bidding on an item so it really doesn't cost them any more than a First Class padded envelope.? I make absolutely no profit on shipping.? My benefit comes from less breakage, loss and theft.

I thought long and hard before using more expensive crush-proof boxes for international shipping and Priority Mail boxes instead of first class.? The result is items or more than likely to make it to their destinations in once piece.

As far as UPS goes, I do use service anymore and haven't for years

Kind Regards,

Adam

Hi, All,

An added note of advice, I always wondered why Adam Hupe' shipped tiny, sometimes almost weightless, pieces of meteorite in a relatively huge

3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 6" box, until I heard similar stories like this in the past and it dawned on me.

An box this size is not easily concealed in clothing by a postal/courier employee, and would discourage all but the most determined thief.

I haven't sold any meteorites yet, but when I do I'll be shipping in similar containers.

Merry Christmas,

Pete
