Hi Pete,

That small speck is actually a second comet (a fragment of Comet
Lovejoy)
that had to have separated at least several days ago. (And actually, as
Kreutz comets go, it's a pretty bright one!) Of course, *all* Kreutz-
amily comets are pieces of one giant original comet that has fragmented
and re-fragmented thousands of times over the centuries. It would not
surprise me if there are one or more small fragments trailing Comet
Lovejoy that will appear in the coming days.

Cheers,
Rob

Amazing video!

In both the zip and AVI videos, there is a small speck preceding the
comet into the sun.

Is this a lens glitch?

Cheers,

Pete
