Depending on the pressure altitude and temp....probably about 640 MPH TAS. Just under the speed of sound at that altitude. Probably a 737-200. If he has a significant tailwind, which is likely, as he's in the Southern Hemisphere and heading West, his ground speed could easily be as high as 790 MPH. Making him look fast for an airliner and more like a meteorite to an inexperienced observer.
