Fine Art dealers, numismatic dealers, artifacts auction houses, high-end antique book shops ect.. And finally, Michael, we're talking about meteorites! Everything else than a run-of-the-mills-market like the above mentioned ;-) And certainly not such ordinary and easy reproducible commodities and trivia like artifacts, fossils or precious stones. Well, often it isn't laziness. Look, the few meteorite dealers of the world have permanently to deliver a better performance than all Antarctic teams together, but without having the background of dozens and dozens of millions $ a year. It is a very hard job. And unfortunately by far not so rewarding like the DiMartinos, Broads, Smiths and Bevanists of this World do believe in their wet dreams. That you can estimate, in the observation, that almost none of them, even not the top-dealers, are able to have employees like any foot care shop or little book shop has. Therefore it's simply the lack of time. Best! Martin PS: Although meteorites can be as cheap as clothes, they aren't any. Michael, that kilo-lump of old uNWA, you're buying at 50 bucks, is still as rare as 1kg of top-diamonds. That's btw. why we all are so upset about the NYT-article, because if everywhere prohibition is introduced, there will be no meteorites anymore. Cause they are so horribly difficult to find, that no university could spend that time and money to find them. And these regular official expeditions we have, are not able to cover the scientific demand. That's why we're always talking about these protectionists, not because we would care about their characters and motifs, but because we're all afraid, that they are really so stupid, to bring modern meteoritics worldwide to an end. (Which means, that they would make also their own jobs obsolete, ouch!). -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com [mailto:meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com] Im Auftrag von fallingfusion at wi.rr.com Gesendet: Mittwoch, 13. Simple as that. Take a look at mine - I don't think its been updated in nearly 3 years! Ryan Sent on the Sprint? I do not know of any other market that does this; it is unique to meteorites in my experiences. As a collector/prospective buyer I do not see the upside to this practice. It does nothing for helping me find what I'm looking for; in fact it is counter productive when I am shopping for a specimen as it makes it more difficult to see what is actually available for sale. It's synonymous with looking for clothes in your size and every store has displays showing your size but not actually selling any clothes that fit you. Maybe a separate page for "Sold Specimens" would be more appropriate if there was a need that I am not aware of to display pieces that have already been sold? I look forward to becoming educated on this matter. Regards, Michael in so.
