NEAF is one of the country's top science forums, and an important educational outreach event. Vendors demonstrate the latest in telescope technology and there are numerous presentations and workshops. Steve and I will be giving a presentation on meteorite hunting for the International Dark Sky Association on Saturday, April 16 at 1 pm. On Sunday, at 4 pm, we are the NEAF keynote speakers and will host an audio visual presentation about the making of Season Two of "Meteorite Men," and talk about our plans for the upcoming third season. We will also be displaying the 109-lb Alpha pallasite found on the "Meteorite Men" pilot. We'll have an impressive display of meteorites and collectibles on hand, including new finds and acquisitions. In addition, popular author, astronomer, and meteorite specialist Dr. Mike Reynolds will be in attendance, as will our excellent friend Geoff Cintron, formerly of Island Meteorite. "Astronomy" magazine, "Sky & Telescope," and "Astronomy Now" are among the many other noted vendors and publications that will be represented. Details: http://www.rocklandastronomy.com/NEAF/index.html Steve and I warmly invite any List members in the tri-state area to come along and say hello. NEAF is a great event and you will not be disappointed. The college is only about a 45-minute drive from NYC, with plenty of free parking. With best wishes, Geoff N. www.aerolite.org www.meteoritemen.com www.meteoriteblog.org Received on Tue 12 Apr 2011 04:18:00 PM PDT |
