The parts to build your own solar panels are now readily available
At highly competitive prices.
        I paid $27K when I refinanced my house to "go solar" and most
Months my bill is $5.75 (for staying hooked up to "the grid" so I get
Even electrical flow day and night summer and winter and do not
Have to mess with batteries.
        In addition, the Govn't kicked in between $18K & $20K for the
Installation.
        However, today you can "do it yourself f(or a few hundreds of
dollars for "small" projects - like a workshop or office) or for a couple
Thousand for the entire home, including enough to charge an electric
Car. Skills and equipment require the ownership and ability to use
A hammer, soldering iron and screw driver. Some of the solar units
that make up an array can now be had for pennies, and the $ is in the
Solder and plastiglass. It is scary cheap.
        I would never use a battery bank except in the woods or something.
