I paid $27K when I refinanced my house to "go solar" and most Months my bill is $5.75 (for staying hooked up to "the grid" so I get Even electrical flow day and night summer and winter and do not Have to mess with batteries. In addition, the Govn't kicked in between $18K & $20K for the Installation. However, today you can "do it yourself f(or a few hundreds of dollars for "small" projects - like a workshop or office) or for a couple Thousand for the entire home, including enough to charge an electric Car. Skills and equipment require the ownership and ability to use A hammer, soldering iron and screw driver. Some of the solar units that make up an array can now be had for pennies, and the $ is in the Solder and plastiglass. It is scary cheap. I would never use a battery bank except in the woods or something. If you want to know more about it I wrote an article on it at: http://greenby2019.eproduct-review.com/ Michael On 4/8/11 4:46 PM, "valparint at aol.com" <valparint at aol.com> wrote: >> Meteorites USA wrote: >> >> Go electric > > Yeah, 'cuz electricity is generated far, far away, so my backyard won't get > messed up and someone else's neighborhood will be scourged by solar fields and > windmill farms! > > It was observed during the last price run-up that people's driving habits > actually started to become more conservative as gas approached $4 per gallon. > IMHO, a positive step provided by market forces. > > Paul > ______________________________________________ > Visit the Archives at > http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list -- "Teachin' a pig to dance is a waste of time and it irritates the pig" Mark Twain -- 1.
