It came in very low in the sky with sparks trailing ... a very bright flash that lit up the sky and it looked like the front or bottom blew out as it fragmented." I wonder if that may have been a "sizable", fragmenting Taurid (debris from Comet 2P/Encke). Taurids are relatively slow but sometimes blaze quite brightly!
