[meteorite-list] Thanks to Norbert & Heike Kammel and, how we missed the Australite

Aloha All

First, a Thanks to Norbert & Heike Kammel (Rocks on Fire) for a wonderful time together!!!

I've been on my now annual Australia trip, and this time I got to spend time with Norbert and Heike in Victoria - totally fantastic!!!!.

Our first day together we attempted to find some Australite tektites. Norbert knew of a site, and we arranged to meet nearby to have a look.

We wandered the area with the custodian of the site, and the three of us were standing in a line right next to each other.... Trevor bent down, reached over, and picked out a very nice flanged button. Norbert was 1 meter to the left, I was 1 meter to the right, so we both missed it by 1 meter and maybe 10 seconds :-( :-(?? in the gigapan image, it's the lower of the two whole tektites. Drat!!!!

In the image, you'll see Norbert searching as well as Missy, three times! She was fast as I was taking the images!!!?

All in all I had a great time!!! Visited some meteorites in a museum (images to come) and took some perplexing pictures of signs nearby for my wife's research (to Norbert's amusement)
