Hi Greg,

I bought my first one at the Munich show in 1981 from Walter Zeitschel,
who is playing now up there among the stars...

It was a Mundrabilla individual.
That circumstance most probably explains why I got so deeply saddened, when
later this barbarous meteorite sharia was proclaimed in Australia.

I know, it's a different thread. But I welcome such shows Geoff and Steve
are producing. If they are broadcasted in Australia, imagine, if - and it's
secondary which incentive - people get involved in meteorites -
and they will ask then, why is that in USA possible but not at us?
Could make some more pressure there.

When the people start to ask, why they can't look in their home museums at a
Mars Rock from Australia, or a lunar...

then I expect those, who were responsible for the situation there to be at
least so honest and to have the balls, not to say: Because there weren't
found any yet.
But to say: "Because we forbade that any will be found".

And one far day Australia will perhaps turn back in the circle of civilized
meteorite nations.
Or not.

To hold a Meteoritical Society meeting in Australia, like in 2 years,
has for me a taste like taking part in a Human Rights Conference in
Pyongyang.

In fact I can't say it as an IMCA-member, but....
Or let me express it else:

For almost 200 years the consensus among all was: The meteorite first!

In that sense, I say: Carry on Meteorite Men!

Dear brethren & sisters in meteorites, let us now observe a minute's silence
in memory of the hundreds of innocently fallen individuals, part of the
cultural heritage of the country, returning to dust in the holy soil of
Slovakia by the will of a law from a period, we all thought, we overcame.

Forgive me. That load of polemics was necessary, cause I want to have a
summer break on these for every thinking man so disgusting topics.

Best!
Martin

Hi List:

Gives me an idea for a new thread:

What was you first meteorite? When did you acquire it?

Greg S.
