While it does grossly resemble weathered stony meteorites such as Dimmitt and many other plains stones, the protruding corners where its brown rind has been worn off (more easily seen in 3rd photo) make the stone look more like a hematite/sandstone concretion, because the texture looks rather like...either sandstone or quartzite. Which isn't to say that it's not a meteorite with a nice rind of terrestrial rubbish cemented it, but it's a bit of a funny shape for that. No guarantees, but I'm not bidding...I would if I thought it were a good one Regards, Jason On Mon, Jun 7, 2010 at 3:35 PM, Warren Sansoucie <warren3174 at hotmail.com> wrote: > > Hello Listees, > > What do you all make of this eBay listing? > > http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-METEORITE-/280515093130?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415000a28a > > Warren Sansoucie > I.M.C.A. #3174 > St. Louis MO > ______________________________________________ > Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > Received on Mon 07 Jun 2010 07:45:43 PM PDT |
