This Sunday some fantastic meteorites are available for sale at the Heritage Natural History Auction in Beverly Hills, for which online bidding is a snap. Comprised primarily of a variety of iron meteorites and planetaries, there are several lots of particular interest which have low reserves (and do make sure you include the 20% buyers premium in your calculations). Here are just four of the select offerings which are worth a look..... A very fine specimen of the Martian DaG 1037 with characteristically large shock veins. 1.8 grams with a reserve of $1500. http://historical.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=6042&Lot_No=49172 A fantastic end piece of Imilac featuring an unusually animated shape with an accompanying large amount of surface area--it's six inches long! The cut surface reveals outstanding crystals and the exterior is crenelated like the very best Imilacs. 445 grams (1 pound) with a reserve of only $5,500. http://historical.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=6042&Lot_No=49179 A select 9.1 gram partial slice of NWA 5717---part of the most primitive 14 kg of planetary material known to exist (subtype 3.1 or less). And NWA 5717 is 3.05....and it's from a previously unknown parent body....and thus is one of just 14 (fourteen) ungrouped chondrites CH-UNGR. Referred to in an LPSC abstract as "The Extra- Ordinary Chondrite," the reserve is just $700 http://historical.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=6042&Lot_No=49177 Finally, what I believe is the finest complete slice of Lovina to exist. Cut from the end of the renowned meteorite which features pyramidal structures, this slice has it all--fantastic internal structure and holes--and do take a look if only to marvel at the same. Among the most unusual meteorites known, this specimen weighs 31.5 grams, and the reserve is $6,000 or $190/g. http://historical.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=6042&Lot_No=49169 ================ To see more of the twenty or so specimens offered, type the word "meteorite" in the key word search on this page..... http://historical.ha.com/common/search_items.php?Sale_No=6042&optGlobalSearch= Wishing everyone the best of luck and a terrific weekend.
