And no, I'm not about to argue this point with you, brother ;-) Hope to see some killer pix tomorrow... All best! I actually predict that there will be a significant black smudge at this longitude when it rotates back into view in the next couple hours. Anyone with a 6-inch or larger aperture telescope should be checking Jupiter ~2 hours from now to see if they can spot the aftermath of this impact. --Rob -----Original Message----- From: meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com [mailto:meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com] On Behalf Of Dave Gheesling Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2010 7:43 PM To: countdeiro at earthlink.net; meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Jupiter hit by massive meteor/asteroid Guido/All, Wow. I recall that the SL9 impact from July 1994 was around then dubbed as a 1 in 1,000 year event. Then the fantastic impact scar image only 15 years later, last July, from the Australian amateur astronomer, and now this (obviously smaller, but wow...).
