Ruben, list,
thanks for sharing the link, Ruben.

I've read Nininger's 'Find A Falling Star' like most of you, I guess, and I
know therefore a little bit about the battles he and his incredibly
dedicated wife Addie had to fight while they were living in what has now
become just another ruin.

I find it very sad that it had to come to this and I wonder what will be
left of that building in another 50 years or so. Not much I guess, probably
a monument with the inscription that many years ago there used to be a
building here where an amazing couple dedicated their lives to the then new
arm of science called meteoritics.

I wonder too whether we would have this great list today, where we can share
our knowledge (or the lack of it, as in my case) about those heavenly
stones, if the Niningers wouldn't have had the dedication and willpower to
put up with a harsh environment, the constant strain of lack of money, and
the ignorance of people in power who couldn't grasp the importance of the
work the Niningers were doing.

Many years ago I read somewhere, that a society will be judged by the way it
has treated its own history. By the looks of that building I think we are
not doing a good job.

Here talks the man himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25lCod4tYRk

Cheers
Werner Schroer
