Dear Michael and Listees

Thanks for the very nice image of the Ensisheim meteorite. It brings
back nice memories of the town and the show. Sorry to be pedantic, but
Ensisheim did not belong to Germany in 1492. Germany did not come into
existence until 1871. Alsace, the region where Ensisheim is located, has
had a chequered history in terms of its "ownership" but at the time of
the fall it was located in the Holy Roman Empire and was in the
possession of the Dukes of Habsburg. Although this empire, a loose
association of states of varying ethnicity but primarily
German-speaking, had constantly shifting boundaries and covered a large
area of Central Europe from modern day Germany to Italy.

Wishing everyone the best over the holidays
