Hi Listees
I was out last night from 2:00 A.M to 3:10 A.M and stopped
viewing at 100 meteors. My viewing location in Donegal in the West of
Ireland is extremely dark and I saw plenty of faint and short meteors
as well as a number of bright ones and a dozen or so that left trails
lasting a second or 2.
It was very cold here so I had a hood up and I was messing
around with my camera trying to catch my first meteor on film(well,
digital) so I suspect I missed quite a few as my eyes weren't always
looking straight up.I did have a couple move straight thru my camera
FOV but they didn't show on review.I suspect I had the ISO setting
wrong as it's the one thing I forgot to adjust until I saw it mentioned
online somewhere today. And it's cloudy tonight of course....
One thing that did surprise me with this fantastic display
last night was the number of meteors that were right at the edge of my
vision going to the horizon. They were all Geminids as the radiant was
correct. One other thing that was quite exciting was the couple of times
when I saw 6 meteors in a minute, that really got me thinking of the
great Leonid shower of 1966,what that must have looked like to see 1000
a minute.
WOW--great Geminids--loved it
