What an awesome story that restores a little of my faith in humanity. :) We should all get together and send Mr. Lynch a Thank-You Card, a bottle of Maker's Mark, and a Cohiba Robusto. I am curious as all heck about the journey this meteorite took after it was stolen. Who was the attorney who claimed to represent the "owners" some time back? How did they get it? Did they get spooked and dump it off at a Goodwill donation box? And how lucky do you have to be, to find a one-of-a-kind museum meteorite for $10 next to a bunch of cheap knick knacks in a thrift store? Wow. It sounds like an Encyclopedia Brown mystery! Some of the postcards mention a weight of 49 pounds and even have the weight written on the iron in white (paint?). I wonder if that is still on it? http://jensenmeteorites.com/Postcards/CanyonDiablo.htm Mike Mike Jensen Meteorites 16730 E Ada PL Aurora, CO 80017-3137 USA 720-949-6220 IMCA 4264 website: www.jensenmeteorites.com Received on Wed 11 Mar 2009 12:53:44 PM PDT |
