The projected robotic mission to return a sample of 500grams of Martian soil to Earth, which could launch in 2018 (or later), is estimated to cost 4.5 - 8 billion dollars. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5gPI__0RZJayfg32rbuWkOccf9-4w http://www.esa.int/esaMI/Aurora/SEM1PM808BE_0.html That's why I recommend to NASA, ESA, IAXA, CNSA, ????????? to take rather some thousands, than millions in the hand and to acquire additionally to the horribly expensive few Antarctic Martian meteorites (http://www.meteoris.de/mars/list-ant.html ) samples or the main masses of the other existing Martians until they'll be ready for lift-off. Because the Martian meteorites represent a larger variety of samples, than the planned mission probably will bring back, from different ages and different depths and they carry profound information about geology, chemistry, climate, history and formation of Planet Mars. Therefore the research on them covers the scientific purposes of the sample return mission to a certain extent too, with the advantage, that the research on Martian meteorites doesn't cost a thing. Here is the menu of the day. http://www.meteoris.de/mars/list-non.html Bon app?tit. Martin PS: Unfortunately there is no time to lose. Did I mention it elsewhere? There are a few meteoritic Taliban very successful in enforcing a sharia inhibiting, that new Martian meteorites will be recovered, because the finders of the Martians shall stay in the house and the only Martian the Taliban found isn't allowed to leave the house neither. It was the small second SaU 094 on the menue of the day, the one and only Martian ever found by an official campaign out of Antarctica. As now the last free deserts shall be closed for meteorite searchs, better hurry up! Because we can't grant any longer that new Martian meteorites and in such a variety will be available in future. Strange enough, one Talibana gave interviews in media about the crucial importance of Martian meteorites for research and science and the other comrade in arms built up the carrier in classifying the earlier Martians and published a lot of papers about the Martians found by the unbelievers. No, they are not normal. :-) -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Steve Dunklee [mailto:sdunklee72520 at yahoo.com] Gesendet: Montag, 27. Mike I bet your chomping at the bit to get there! Since I own a small piece of the red planet I am using my property rights to open the center for Mars meteorite studies! A non profit Repository for the preservation of Mars meteorites. Can hardly wait to see that 20 gram piece lol! Have a great day! Steve Dunklee Received on Mon 27 Jul 2009 08:09:02 AM PDT |
