"22 rounded bead-like objects of strongly oxidized meteoritic iron were found in an Indian burial mound. The material was worked by Indians of the Hopewellian culture into a number of ornamental beads, R.M.Grogan, American Antiquity, 1948, 13, p.302" Thanks, Peter -----Original Message----- From: meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com [mailto:meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com] On Behalf Of Michael Gilmer Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2009 11:18 PM To: meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com Subject: [meteorite-list] Bizarre Fall Date in Met Bulletin According to the online Met Bulletin, Havana Illinois (Iron, IAB complex), was found in the year "-300". I am currently researching falls in Illinois and Florida, and I ran across this goofy typographical error. Or is there some other reason for this oddball date? http://tin.er.usgs.gov/meteor/metbull.php?code=11857 Regards and clear skies, MikeG .........................................................
