Greg,

I'm pretty sure this video is a phony animation. This looks nothing like a
sprite, with their characteristic trumpet shape. A sprite is an upward
reaction to proton lightning, and if there was a proton lightning strike, it
would surely show up on the video. You can clearly see regular negative
lightning strikes from the space shuttle. Since there are no signs of any
lightning pos or neg on the video, I think it's a fake.
