I love the way they link us back in a chain through time, across different countries, languages, different philosophies and world-views which were extant at that point. I also like poring over the surviving records of the time. That fact that many of them are only available in small pieces (often at silly prices) only adds to the allure - they are a rare species within a rare class of objects. Other than those, I have a soft spot for low petrologic type chondrites like 4522, 2918, 4699 - very beautiful, primitive matter - and well-prepared irons. I think the irons are interesting because such a high proportion of them are ungrouped or anomalous - suggesting we still have a lot to learn about them.
