I have found a half a dozen different ordinary chondrites. Hundreds of pounds of irons and several large pallasites and still this piece has fooled me. I would have bet $1000 that it is a meteorite and according to an up standing Scholar who does meteorite classification it is not a meteorite. It is oriented! It has characteristics of ablation! It looks like a pallasite meteorite! But it is not! Now the only way I can make sense of this is to think it might be something man made that has entered our atmosphere and had the same forces act upon it as meteorites have affect them in the passage of our atmosphere. Now what I am looking for here is someone who knows a lot about space junk who might be able to help me understand what this thing is. Yes I understand that this is really not meteorite related but in my opinion it is VERY close. We can discuss this on or off list, what ever you prefer. Thanks to all. -- Mike Miller 230 Greenway Dr. Kingman Az 86401 www.meteoritefinder.com 928-753-6825Received on Mon 07 Apr 2008 10:00:43 PM PDT |
