Hiho Norbert,

and I'm to busy because of the upcoming show (still someone there, who
forgot to order his lot of boxes for Munich?).

To explain, quite the opposite of Carancas happened 12 years ago in Bavaria.

A policeman discovered on his helicopter patrol a fresh crater of 20m
diameter close to a lake.
Because we are so much better educated and enlighted than the Peruvians,
it was immediately clear, that a meteorite caused this hole
and that sensational recovery was spread by radio, TV, newspapers.

Of course a lot of onlookers as well as meteorite "experts" travelled there,
the latter instructing the crowd, to look and to find pieces of the
impactor.

But they found nothing than some days later a piece of the fuze, and the
authorization of the blasting to create a biotope, which had been lost in
the official channels.
Well, and as it was somewhat embarrassing for the officials to have
announced the hole as meteorite crater, they got back to the shot firer, who
found the thing very funny
bringing him to court, because another authorization was missing,
but he was acquitted.

Sooo at least in Bavaria we have no reason to look down on the Peruvians.

Well at least those were the times, where the solution and disclaimer was
published, nowadays if I remember it doesn't happen anymore.
The Chiemgau comet impact field never was doubted in public,
nor couldn't we see a denial, after the primetime news announced, that a
micrometeorite burned down an arbour. (that rubbish was told to the
investigating policemen by an employee of the observatory in Bochum).

Best from Munich!
(Snowfall here...eeeek)
Martin

Thanks for making my day, Martin.

Just hilarious! Sorry for all you folks who cannot read German, and I am
just an old lazy buggar with not the knowledge of the English lingo.

Cheers to all, and best regards from Down-Under,
