Hello everyone,

Just a note that the Nantan meteorite coin is mentioned in the latest
National Geographic.

"In the Money

Pardon me, is that a meteorite in your coin? Actually, yes! A growing number
of countries are embedding objects in commemoratives. That's how space
debris from China ended up in a coin from Palau. A tpyical mintage is 1,000
to 10,000 coins, priced $50 to $100 for silver, about $1,000 for gold. The
result can be a boon for national coffers. Canada and Poland are among the
nations minting the coins themselves...."

Interestingly the article shows several "embedded objects in commemorative
coins", but not the Nantan coin.

(There is also an interesting article on global warming and the National
Geographic is always cool....so pick it up if interested.)

Clear Skies,
Mark
