Ah,
PT has already performed the needed function of giving
the gang a straw dog to kick around.
More than one person mentioned, "what would a new-to-the
scene" would be meteorite collector think of a PT web site (still
not clear how they would find it - but that is neither here nor
there).
Well, here is what I think a newbe would think if s/he did
somehow find a PT website: "Hm.... interesting sense of humor"
or even, "not my kind of humor" - what they WOULDN'T see is
a group of people who fancy themselves as "serious, scientifically
minded meteorite collectors" periodically attacking someone - usually
for imagined misdoings and even causing stress to the point of
a heart attack. That is what they WOULDN'T see on a PT web
site. More like the "Don't have a gao, man!" cartoon with C. Steve's
face pasted in and the like.
But that is just me - the real point everyone seems to ignore
sits like an elephant in the room: if you don't like his humor, don't
visit his site.
But, as I said in the beginning, he is already performing an
invaluable service as functioning as the current whipping boy
and, being fictional and all, I am confident he can take it.
So, maybe we can let it all go for now - then when someone
starts attacking Adam Hupe or Mike Farmer or Al & Iris Lang
or Chicago Steve, or even Matteo, I will just post to the list the
threat of the possibility Proud Tom might appear on an obscure
web site somewhere and everyone can stop beating the hell out
of real people and pounce on the evil Proud Tom.
        Ya, that's the ticket.
        Best wishes, Michael
