I'd suggest getting two different scales, one for the small stuff and one for the big stuff. I picked up this one for measuring my gold when I go drywashing, it weighs things down to the nearest Milligram- http://www.digiweighusa.com/ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=58 I picked mine up off of eBay for around $25.00. As for the larger scale, the choice is yours. I'd suggest another Digiweigh because they're relatively cheap and work good. Hope this helps.
