Interesting, if it's true, then one can see, which effects can be yielded by the often so hopelessly exaggerated figures about the value of meteorites the laypeople in media or even some scientists from time to time are hawking. If the thieves would have known, that such a piece would cost let's say 3000$ only, then maybe they would thought twice, whether it would be worth to break into that museum. -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com [mailto:meteorite-list-bounces at meteoritecentral.com] Im Auftrag von Darren Garrison Gesendet: Samstag, 9. A local Interior Ministry spokesperson explained the thieves broke into a history museum in the village of Seimchan at night and stole a part of the meteorite named after the residential place. It is supposed that the offenders have been inspired by a recent TV program, which discussed the high value of meteorite pieces on Russia's black market. The Seimchan meteorite was found in 1967 near the Seimchan gold mine in the Magadan Region. The local police authorities are still investigating the case. ______________________________________________ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list Received on Sat 09 Jun 2007 11:41:39 AM PDT |
