Hi Bernd and All,

how wonderful that you already have your piece secured.
This is really a fantastic looking meteorite.

Now could it be an iron-ung?
Or why not?

I just saw for the first time that such classification exists.
Actually it looks a little like Barbianello.
But of course I still have much to learn!


The recommended classification Iron-ung means according to the met.bulletin

"An iron meteorite that does not fit into any of the established chemical
groups."

The highlighted words are defined as follows:

Iron meteorite: A meteorite that is dominantly composed of Fe-Ni metal and
that crystallized from a melt.
