Hi,
I think I found a 20 ft wide creater. I don't want to disturb it to prevent loss of scinetific value. Here is a description:

Site is on 12% down-slope to Southwest side of small hill. Inside diameter is about 10 feet, outside about 20 feet. I estimate over 100 yards3 of decomposed granite pushed out and down-slope. Upper slope seems to have had material pulled down and away from it. It seems there is flash or blast damage to rocks on upper and sides where extruded material is not piled. Material is pushed out, on lower side as evidenced by old fence lying on top of pushed out material. Fence is too old to have been build on top of pile and no marks to effect. I also found missing fence posts down-hill and away from pile.
There are no tool marks, as expected if it was a mine shaft, or other human excavation. The shape does not seem like a bomb creater, and area has always been populated by farmers. Also, hanging bolders would make it unlikey someone would have worked inside with danger of bolders sliding in. Formation seems to be about 40 years old.

  Location is in Southern CA.

I would appreciate competent help in:
  1. determineing scinetific value of creater-like formation,
  2. likelyhood that it is indeed from a meteorite, and
  3. also, how deep the meteroite might be, if there is one,
  4. Monetary and Scientific value such a meteroite migh have.
  .
  Thanks for your help.
  Happy wonder,
  Tacho
