Just keep in mind that the area you want to investigate is where people saw
the fireball explode directly overhead. If people saw it off towards any
horizon, you are likely many miles from any possible strewn field. Sound is
also a good indication. While electrophonic noise may be heard over hundreds
of miles (possibly your whistling), sonic booms are usually heard much
closer to the terminal explosion.

In any case, finding anything is pretty unlikely unless you can narrow your
search area with some high quality witness reports.

A friend of mine just called me and told me that they just saw a fireball
over LaSalle county at about 9:30 pm on 5/22/2006. He said the fireball was
white and the tail was redish orange. He said they heard whistleing. They
said it lasted for about 45 sec.(may be an exageration he was excited).

Tomarrow I will be going out to hunt for it. I sure hope noeone finds it
first. At least I hope I can find a piece.
When he called I heard other people in the background describing it to other
people, they sounded very excited I was the first person they called because
they know I am a meteorite huning fool. I can't wait to hunt this down.
Hopefully there is a new strewn field, I doubt it but I am keeping my
fingers crossed, one can dreamcan't he?
Does this sound like it might be a meteorite fall? If so what are the
chances of it landing to Earth as a meteorite?
Did anyone else hear about this or wittness it? If so what is your story and
where was it whitnessed and at what time?
Thanks,
Joe Kerchner
