Hi Bob,

Could it be Troilite (FeS)? It has a gold colour and is often quite
prevalent in many chondrites. Bensour was a great example and it's easily
distinguishable against the stark pale interior.

Anne,

I have a 16 gram fragment of Park Forest with a large cluster of gold
colored metal on it. Actually my wife found the piece.
I also wondered quite a bit about the metal and seeing as it was definitely
not nickel - iron. I never had a pro check it out though.
I will post some photos of it when I get a chance.

Thanks for the photos of the Bilanga... nice piece !!

Bob

Hello Jeff, Bob, List,

Thanks Jeff for the picture of that most-unusual Bensour.
It sounds possible that the Park Forest his wife found contains troilite, it
is the right color.

But it does not work for my weird Bilanga. The metal vein is bluish, the
colors on the pictures are accurate, I made sure of that. And it is iron, I
checked it with a magnet. So it looks like it is an iron vein, but has anything
like that ever been found in a Bilanga fragment?

Thanks for the comments.
