According to the Sky and Telescope reports, the 2001 Leonid "storm" must really have been awesome from the dark skies of Arizona or from western Texas where 1,559 (!) Leonids were counted during a five-hour observing period. In the same S & T issue, Landon Curt Noll wrote: "While some called the 2001 Leonids a great shower, others called it a storm. Perhaps the term Leonid squall is in order?" Reference: S & T, March 2002, pp. 102-106. Bernd Received on Mon 06 Mar 2006 04:36:18 PM PST |
