Here is more detailed report from Dorohusk. Its page from Custom Service of
Poland


On 5 september, in area of Dorohusk border transid arrived TIR from Russia.
Driver Victor G. declared transpot of quartzite with destination to Czech
Republic. While Mobil Group from Dorohust checked cargo, they find in one
box strange stone that not looks like like all other quartzite.

This object was black, have irregular shape and high weight. They have in
mind detected not so long ago valuable minerals and fossils in Terespol. So
they make decission to check whole truck. After verry long search they
finally find total of 529.5kg the same dark stones. Three of them have
weight of 80, 150 and 176 kg. First look at them by Institute of Geologic
Jobs in Chelm say that this object can be iron ore from magma origin or
meteorites. So they immediatelly infom State Geological Institute from
Warsaw and yesterday scientist from morning investigate this stones.

"Fantastic find. First time in my life I see that incredible examples of
iron meteorites" - opinion of one of the specialists from State Geological
Institute [P.I.G.]. On that information we can say that this specimens comes
from one source or fall site, that was in 1947y in Siberia. Stones propably
comes from any collection becouse they have etched catalog numbers.

When they finish with meteorites there comes time to check quartzite. And
here another surprise. Cargo contain mineralogical specimens with
collectioners or museums value. There are beautifull formed mineral
specimens, some verry rare. This treasure contain mostly crystals of quartz,
calcite, korund and fieldspars. There are also single crystals removed from
stone veins.

Investigation take a look not at all specimens but without any doubt there
are collectioners specimens. Most of museums san be pround to have some of
this specimens.

Tooday 9 september minerals will be carefully described, weighted and
catalogued. Value of all mineral specimens (total weight 8 TON !!!) and
meteorites is difficult to say, but for sure its a few millions of zloty (1
mln zl = 250 000euro). Criminal-treasury case was start. Police hold TIR
Truck with trailer. Driver was hold in arrest.

In march and may customs from Terespor border transit hold stone meteorites
(17 specimens) and Brahin pallasites (28 fragments). Biggest specimens
weight 5kg. This was slices made from big specimen.
