Obviously, this data would be of great importance to those who are trying to come up with an asteroid deflecting strategy. Seems like a simpler solution than some of the other methods talked about like gravity tractors and space sails.... By simpler, I mean less convoluted, since hitting a moving comet/asteroid with a small spacecraft from millions of miles away is really a great achievement...
